When looking for things to do with the kids for Halloween half term I always make sure to take them to the theater or a show of some kind and when I spotted that the circus was coming to town I thought it was perfect.
The boys love the circus.
This one was even more spectacular as it was based around Halloween and it was a ten minute drive from us at Ruxley Manor which is big garden centre near me in Sidcup, which also houses ice skating and Father Christmas’ Grotto at Christmas time, amazing afternoon tea and they do adorable Easter egg hunts too. I love an event that is local to me as I do travel around Kent to find great things to do with the kids and it can take a long time and be stressful but today was lovely. We had such gorgeous weather for a circus treat. I brought the tickets online here and it is £6 per person but kids under 2 go free but have to sit on your lap. When I checked yesterday tickets were still available but I think the shows might be sold out now. You can try to book some tickets on the door, the show is on till 27th October and they have 4 shows a day.
Honestly…it was amazing! The boys were in awe and it was just so well put together with lots of different acts to suit so many tastes. There was an amazing lady who manipulates light lasers (this was my favourite) – it was different and a great modern twist to the retro circus acts. There was something for those who have a high adrenaline drive, something sweet and funny for kids and obviously some scary and wicked wizardry. The tent was bright and so pretty with lights inside and they even sold candy floss and slushies with amazing toys and light up devices for the kids. The rainbow boomerangs were a big hit!
The show was 45 mins long but felt a lot longer and I think it went on got an hour. It was funny, very well put together and just very magical. It had a Halloween twist with some spooky shows but nothing too scary or over powering.
The tent was spacious and really easy to get to. I would highly recommend and as it is only and hour long you can easily go for tea and cake after or a little walk around the garden centre for a smooch!
Of course we had to sit right at the front. When you check your name off the list you can walk in and sit anywhere you want.
There are so many surprises in store and they do take some people out of the audience to volunteer but it was done so well and for someone who was wearing a big spider on her hair and sitting in the front row I was very happy it wasn’t me.
The John Lawson Circus is a great show and I highly advise you to see when they are coming into your town!
Happy Halloween Half Term!
