This year we decided to decorate the pumpkins that we collected from the Pumpkin Patch. We normally carve them but then my husband takes 3 hours to do his as it has to be perfect – the kids get bored after 20 minutes and Lorenzo needs help carving as he is only little. So I am left carving 6 pumpkins for 5 days straight.
So this year we decided to paint and decorate them. I also made sure we only got small pumpkins as this meant that it would not be so messy and the kids would not get bored easily. This is the finished result…
These three are Khillian’s pumpkins. We spray painted one of them – the gold one (which is so much easier and took 2 mins). The paint also dries so quickly so we decorated the whole pumpkin within 10 mins and it was done!
The next one we decorated was the camouflage pumpkin. I saw this online and had to try it. Khillian helped me lots. He peeled all the crayons we wanted to use and stayed within the camouflage colour palette – browns, khakis, greens and even turquoise. We glued the crayons to the top of the pumpkin with a hot glue gun.
Then we got the hairdryer and put it on full heat and full blast and wait for the crayons to melt. The boys absolutely loved doing it. It took 5 minutes and was such a different way to creative a fun activity for the kids. After all the crayons had melted Khillian wanted to spray the whole pumpkin with gold glitter – which we did.
The other pumpkins we painted ourselves with kids paint. No it was not the best as it took forever to dry and the pumpkins could not get full covered but the kids enjoyed it so I didn’t mind so much.
This little one is my painted one. I wanted to do a pastel mix and it blended in well, everyone says it looks like garlic. Then I remembered I brought these amazing foam thick stickers from Lidl that you can add onto pumpkins so after school we all jumped in and re-did our pumpkins. These stickers are amazing and I am getting them next year. Also, the boys thought they were the best thing ever. We have lots left over so we can use for Christmas arts and crafts now.
I love the pumpkins with the warts so I got that one for me which I spray painted gold glitter. The little painted one is by my little man. He literally mixed all the colours he could find and I love it!
The stickers are sooooooo much fun!
Here are the new and improved pumpkins after their make overs.
I mean, they are hilarious!
I hope you have enjoyed this post and I would love to see all your Halloween pumpkins and how you have decorated them.
